- A Morning in the Catskills (Every New Day) -
Description by dunn95
I painted this for my best friend Kurt Lehmann for his 18th birthday present as well as his graduation gift from me. I painted the Catskill mountains in New York per his request. I picked morning to emphasize the new day, a new start into a new world after high school. Also the sky is a symbol for his spiritual side and the mountains are his challenges to climb and defeat. A place he loves in a mysterious fog of what\'s new and to come.

I\'m just reading a book on the changes of viewing paintings and the entire world as it is - lots about Friedrich, Runge and their contemporaries. Your idea(l)s, put into form and the way you write about them remind me much to Friedrich\'s paintings.
